Phenolic sandwich panels consist of colored steel sheets as the facing materials and phenolic foam as the core material. The core material is typically formulated with 100 parts by weight of phenolic resin, 2 - 8 parts of homogenizing agent, 3 - 9 parts of foaming agent, and 1 - 5 parts of catalyst. The panels are manufactured by reacting phenol with formaldehyde solution in a barium hydroxide aqueous solution, followed by acidification, reflux, and dehydration steps.
